We grew up in Ames, Iowa where
our love of cooking, good food and a sense of family and community
was nurtured. As brothers, it was heartening to talk to each
other about our roles as Executive Chefs in different restaurants – Matt
working with Wolfgang Puck at Spago, and Jeff with Rick Bayless
, one of the leading authorities on authentic Mexican cuisine.
In the summer of 1996, we opened the original
Brothers' Restaurant, which we soon outgrew. The opportunity
to bring our vision of fine dining to a landmark site such
as Mattei’s Tavern was realized when we opened our doors
here on June 21, 2002. We strive to have legendary service,
innovative “made from scratch” cuisine, and a welcoming
and comfortable atmosphere that causes you to return time and
again.
Over the years we have created a number of “signature
dishes” for which we are often asked for the recipe or
cooking tips on preparation. The idea to create a cookbook
germinated and over the course of a year, recipes were written
down and tested, photographs taken, prep tips created and a
publisher found. We are very proud and excited that our inaugural “Brother’s
Cuisine” cookbook was released in November of 2010. Our
story continues…
